Notes regarding vacuum bags
Vacuum bags are available in a number of grades and specification depending on end use.
The thickness or micron of the bag is not what determines the barrier in terms of oxygen transmission, but a thicker bag may be desirable with consideration to product type, storage handling.
Oxygen transmission testing of bags for fresh meat and fish products should be determined against a relative humidity of at least 75% to give a meaningful result.
A bag tested at a relative humidity (eg 60%) may result in a misleading figure with the bag not performing to the expected levels.
